My love for baking began as a child when I would bake fairy cakes with my nan during the school holidays.
I took up the hobby of baking (mostly cupcakes) when living at home with my parents in my early 20s as something to do in between studying and working part time as a teaching assistant.
During my time living away at university, I continued to practise and soon enough my family and friends were telling me that my bakes were good enough to sell.
Once I finished university and bought my own house I set up Katie’s Bakes and haven’t looked back!
The business was very much in the early stages at the start of 2020, then during lockdown the business grew to an extent I could never have imagined! I was out delivering on a daily basis to keep up with demand and word spread on social media very quickly, creating a following.
Six years since starting up and Katie's Bakes is still going strong. Demand is difficult to keep up with at times as I continue my other work, teaching both children and adults, whilst running my business - but I absolutely love what I do!
Over the last couple of years I have been able to expand further and I still have so many ideas for the future. I can't wait to make them a reality!
